Derek has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Chicago, including the Chicago Symphony Center, Jay Pritzker Pavilion, The Green Mill, and The Jazz Showcase, among others. He has shared the stage with numerous jazz luminaries, including Jeremy Kahn, Dan Trudell, Chris Foreman, Art Davis, Russ Phillips, Eric Schneider, and Andy Schumm.
Derek's credentials include a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University, where he received mentorship from virtuoso guitarists Fareed Haque and Bobby Broom.
